Mode of Action (MoA)
involved in repairing double-strand DNA breaks via recombination between short sequence repeats (single-strand-binding protein).
Evidence
Deletion of any of these genes (vcrx091, vcrx092, and vcrx093) caused a 6–200 fold drop in conjugation efficiency in the presence of CRISPR targeting (ECO_0007379). Evasion was RecA-independent, consistent with single-strand annealing-type repair. The effect was rescued by complementation in the recipient only, showing the repair happens post-entry. Repaired plasmids showed specific deletions between short direct repeats, confirming Bet/Exo-mediated recombination.
